Red Lippie Story...YSL Rouge Pur Couture # 8 Belle De Rose

I have steered clear of lipsticks for years. Sticking with the usual tinted gloss or the tried and true lip balm. My fear of the dreaded lipstick was for a few reason: smudging, smearing, chappy lip color, bad color choice and lastly but surely not least they all seem to take a lifetime to get off at the end of the day.

Nevertheless I have secretly envied the fearless who dear attempt and was successful at the color game as well as barfed at the ones who missed the mark completely. I have often eyed a few mags and thought hmmm maybe, did the mirror lip pucker thing, even stalked the counter at the department store but ran off intimidated by the array of color choices as the often misguided, supposedly beauty expert at the counter waved a wand of hideous color (in no way complimenting my skin tone) in my face, wiling me to "try it! try it! come on we have a special event for today only!"

Well low and behold I have taken the plunge!! My inspiration....the classic red lip. I figured if I was going to try lipstick for the first time it would have to represent me and my style, simple elegance, old school classy chic with an upbeat twist, yep that's me. So I started my quest with first, visual stimulation....

With my mind made up I set off to the mall with one aim, the red lip! After musing over counter after counter I had just about had enough. Until I was met with a cute, sales girl with a welcoming smile saying, "Is there something I can help you with?" My lips formed the words "Yes, I am looking for the perfect red lip stick"

Like a well trained professional she eased my concerns, talked me through the product and at first guess picked the perfect shade which she applied with ease while distracting me with chatter about visiting New York. Before I could say stop she was holding a mirror in my face and smiling proudly at her work of art. I was sold!

YSL Rougue Pur Couture # 8 Belle De Rose. A creamy texture gives lips a silky not greasy feel. Blends perfectly for darker skin tone and adds just the right amount of pop for a classic but boom boom pow look and as for smearing, and unusual amounts of application, no need for that this baby stays put. YSL gets my seal of approval and even leaves me wanting more.

So for you lip color runaways here is your starting point. For you regular lipstick gals feel free to check out YSL color line, trust me, it's worth the try if you don't mind shelling out a few bucks.
